Great care is taken in the production of Toyota vehicles to ensure that they are of the highest quality. However, despite rigorous pre-release testing, defects can sometimes be identified after a vehicle has been put on the market. A recall will be issued if any defects are found that affect “performance, construction, a component, or material of a motor vehicle or motor vehicle equipment.”
If a recall has been issued, you will be notified by mail. You can also check for recent recalls by visiting the Toyota recall website. Toyota issued a recall of certain 2022-2023 Toyota Tundra models in June 2024. The cause of the recall was debris left in the engines during the production process, which can damage the engine crankshaft bearings, resulting in engine knocking, running rough, stalling, or not starting. This issue does not appear to be widespread, however, if you own a Toyota Tundra that is within the recall range, you should have it checked out at your nearest Torrance-area Toyota dealership. If your vehicle is affected by this issue, Toyota will replace the engine free of charge.
Your safety on Inglewood and Los Angeles roads is a top priority for Toyota, and stringent testing and monitoring of all models is ongoing. Here are some important recalls to take note of:
Certain 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander and Grand Highlander Hybrid models have been recalled due to a problem with the front curtain shield airbags. The issue is that the airbags do not stay within the vehicle if deployed with the front windows down. This is not related to the Takata airbag recall.
In addition to the engine recall noted previously, a safety recall has been issued for certain Toyota Tundra and Toyota Sequoia models due to structural damage to the passenger side front and rear tires that may have occurred during the manufacturing process. Approximately 12,000 vehicles in the U.S. are included in this recall. Fletcher Jones Toyota of Carson will inspect the tires and replace any damaged ones as needed.
There have been no recalls initiated for the Toyota RAV4 in 2024. In 2023 the Toyota Tacoma was affected by the following three recalls:
